I would recommend heading to whatever store you is convenient for you and finding the models you like. Take down their model numbers and then go home and google region free hack and the model number.

Don't waste your time looking at sony's you won't find any hacks....

HomePlus and Carrefour now have a couple of region 3 models that are in the 60-80,000 won range. However, I searched around and wasn't able to find handset hacks for any of them. I finally gave up and ordered a multi-region player from YesAsia.com for 120,000. It hasn't come yet, but a coworker ordered the same thing and he really likes it.

Good luck.

Walmart used to sell a cheap region free model called Ethnic. I paid 79,000 for one last year.

I bought one too. Works great, region free, and plays mp3's. What more could you ask for.

Ethnic is one of the brands that I just saw recently at HomePlus. Is it really region free? Figures... I saw it about an hour after I'd placed my online order. Dangit. Evil or Very Mad

I was wrong... it was a different brand. Phew. Maybe I didn't waste an extra 60,000 for nothing (seeing as how there's no Wal-Mart here).

How about one that plays DVD, MP3, WMA and AVI files?

There is one at Carrefore from a company called Silady that costs about 110,000 these days (was on sale for 99,000).

I THINK it's region-free. I couldn't find a region stamp on the box or on the unit anywhere.

Hey I bought a DivXer from MegaMart (Also available online in various places). The Korean manual and the English manual disagreed about the regions (heheheheh). Didn't have a chance to test it out completely but I'm pretty damn sure...

And on top of that it'll play DivX and VCD movies as well as Mp3 and most picture CDs... and even Karaoke CDs. The remote is (obviously) incompatible with most things but it's very nice and.... ready?

100,000. I'm happy with it. And MegaMart has a great return policy...
