Just a heads up to all.

I taught with PickupPhone.. yes that lame company which hosts that "translation" service that all the taxi drivers always refuse to do.

Anyways, i taught with them for 6 months before going back home.

The co-ordinator, Lucy, gave me my first bonus 5% 3 months late and then said my next bonus would be 2.5% because she made a mistake. Well.. way to change the terms after i start working. whatever.

she also said i would be teaching once i got home and taht she would pay me waht she owed me, plus my bonus, once i got here.

I should have known, once i got back here.. they had some "financial difficulties" then when i DID get my money, i only got 66% of it. Guess who's walking around with my pay in their pocket? Lucy, you listening?

Look, I don't mean to be an ass, I usually leave that up to DW. But if you want people to treat you seriously you need to put a little effort into proofreading your posts.

You expected them to pay you in full after leaving the country? Laughing

Sorry man, it sucks to be yanked around by your school, but that was just dumb.

I have worked for anyphonenglish and I was not paid for the last month before they went out of business.

Also, a while back I worked for onlinekorea who used to advertise to death on teachenglish.co.kr and they did not pay their last 2 months.

Conclusion:
All phone school nickel and dime you. The idea sounds great, but implementation is poor.

To answer your question below, phone school involves only English. Translation is discouraged unless the student has no idea what you are talking about.

I'm just curious....how does a foreigner "teach" or "translate" on these phone gigs? I imagine it must be difficult as you can't see a face.

When I was taking Korean classes in Gangnam, this guy in the apartment next to mine drove me nuts with his phone classes, starting from 6 pm every night to around 1 am. I hope he didn't get paid, it would be poetic justice. Twisted Evil

Seriously, though, I am sorry you got screwed over by these guys, and I apprecate the heads-up. Sounds like phone English companies are a bit dodgy and one should watch out for them.
