I hated going to American gyms, and I really hate going to Korean gyms. Thus, I'm looking for a set of dumbells to have in my apartment. I live in Daejeon, but I have absolutely no idea where to find a sporting goods store, and neither do any of the teachers I work with. Does anyone know a place where I can find some? Preferably a store in Daejeon, but if absolutely necessary I can travel elsewhere to buy them.

Thanks!

Qinella

I've got some in my English conversation class that I'd be glad to let you have.

(You can pick them up in the stores that are around the Dongdemun Stadium subway station, too.)

I don't know about Daejeon, but Grand Mart and Carrefour in Seoul both sell the adjustable kind (up to 20 kgs). There's a Carrefour in Daejeon, isn't there?

I might as well chime in with an additional question (as it relates to this topic).

Is it possible to purchase the long-handled adjustable dumbells and heavy weight plates in Seoul? (Or an E-Z curl bar, which I can use as a heavy adjustable dumbbell). I want to be able to work with 40-90 kg worth of weight on each dumbbell.

I know it might sound like a silly question to ask, but I might as well try.
(And yes, I would be crazy enough to carry over 90 kg on the subway... separate trip for each dumbbell ^^)

You could just catch a taxi, or better yet have them delivered

You can find plenty of dumbells in a classroom.
They're usually slouching at the rear desks daydreaming. Cool
