"Research by Dr Roger Payne of the Whale Conservation Institute and others has shown that whales, as the ultimate end users in the ocean food web, are also the hapless repository for the lethal co'ktail of toxins and contaminants dumped into the sea by humans.
A 2002 analysis of whale blubber from Norway found it brimming with mercury, dioxin, polycholorinated biphrenyls (PCBs), dichloro-diphenyl-trichloroethene (DDT) and brominated flame retardants. US food laws ban the sale of fish with more than two parts per million of PCBs; beluga whales in the Gulf of St Lawrence have up to 3200 parts per million, meeting the Canadian Government definition of a toxic hazard.

I ate Minke whale sushi and tartar in Iceland and I am still healthy, though I have to say the taste is not all that great. Very greasy and with a strong aftertaste.
Dolphin steak on the other hand is delicious. |

I have heard that sharks are much the same. So I suppose they get their revenge after people eat shark fin soup. |
