Seoul City Vice Mayor Detained for Bribery Charge
The prosecution raided Yang's office and reportedly secured evidence that Yang took more bribes regarding the restoration project, and plans to request an arrest warrant for him soon.

Prosecutors also plan to expand their investigation into whether other officials were involved. Following Yang's detention, Seoul Mayer Lee Myung-bak held an emergency meeting with city officials and said Yang, as a high-ranking official, should be heavily punished if he is proven to have received the money.

I'll never get this about Korea. Why go through the motions of nailing a suspect, then leave and say to the media "we're coming to get you...uh, soon". Giving the guy a 3-day headstart if he's going to do a runner, or enabling him to barricade himself in somewhere for the NEXT time they raid his office, or jumping his ass off a bridge into the Han River?

What exactly is the point of warning the guy?

Well, not bad

The Governor of my state was impeached, tried and sent to jail for gafting charges.
And from my understanding, he was the first governor in the US to be sent to jail while in office

The former mayor of Hialeah, Florida, Raul Martinez, was thrown in jail for corruption, and was re-elected from his cell.
