Hi guys,

I'm inbound for Incheon next week (arriving on Friday).

Initially I thought I'd leave my PS2 at home, but then I figured its a dvd player and a console, so it might be worth taking (and comparing the weight of it + a load of DVDs on a spindle vs. Videos its pretty much even in that dept).

I'm curious on two fronts, 1. How will converters to a UK power supply work? Is it a simple plug adaptor or something more complex?

2. Its a UK machine meaning its designed to play PAL dvds, I think, so would there be compatibility issues??

Also, as a nice throwaway question, I'm thinking of sending my PC base unit out to Korea, I don't mind it taking a while to arrive but wot sort of cost might I be looking at? (It'll be from the UK)

Check the back of your Playstation. Ok, I'm not sure what the voltage of UK power outlets are, but in Korea, they're 220v. Look at the back of your Playstation and see if it includes 220v. If it doesn't, you'll need a simple power converter that you can buy in most department stores in Korea or can probably buy at a department store or luggage store in the UK (they're available in luggage stores in Canada..so maybe there too?)
As for playing DVD's, there will assuredly be compatibility problems. I got my Korean machine mod-chipped in Korea and it played all the games (burned games and all the foreign ones), but it still wouldn't play Japanese DVD's. I bought one of those "zone converter" discs for 20 000 won and it worked but only sporadically or after multiple attempts.

Korea uses NTSC.

to play all the pal stuff you need a pal compatible tv... pick up a ps2 here modded for 230,000

Or bring your playstation with you and for 100$ you can get it chipped with 10 movies or games of your choice thrown in. Then it will play pretty much anything.

Yeah i have the same deal, i bought mine from Australia and it only places PAL so i cant play it on my tv, im having the same deal with my video camera.
Dont bring it, you can buy a dvd for next to nothing, and you can get playstations here if you really want them, but if your social, you might not get enough time to play it anyhow.

Well i'm really viewing it as a dvd player more than anything. And I got lots of region 2 DVDs I can bring along. My games collection consists of 2 singstars and GTA (the last one). So its not that huge

So will my ps2 show DVDs in colour u think? I'm guessing that it depends on the age of the TV.

dvds are pretty bad for your ps2, as there are no loading times... wear and tear is worse
