Hi all....

What's the experience been for those of you that have been associated with these people "IMEA" and "WorkNPlay"...seems these two are working together on this.

AND

I would still like some more feed back about "The English Village".....

I'm getting ready for second round of telephone talks....

Salary starts at 2.6 won
Apt.
Airfare
Some utilities allowance (250,000 won), relocation allowance (300,000)
etc...

schedule rotates between .....there is a 9-5
and a Sat - Sun + two week days

Living quarters are suppose to be nice(17~19 pyung apartment, I would imagine this is average or not?? )...BUT...I've heard between a 40 min - to an Hour commute by school bus to the school area...

Siheong (subway line 4 Oido station 5min) What's this place and area Like??

SO far this is what I've been able to find out....

PLEASE..comment of the facts presented here (true or False, or add details)

PLease...Ad an details about this place that you know....teachers that work there, work environment, job/pay reliability, any history of problems, any positive - negative comments....

AND of course just any impressions about what you think about the offer/JOb.

As far as I know the program is run by BCM which is a pretty well known chain of hagwons. I used to work for the main branch and bottom line- they'll work you hard, but they do things legally and won't try to stiff you on pay, or scam you on things like pension.

Workn'play are legit, but not exactly competent. Make sure you ask them the following questions. All of these things were told to me after the fact, and cost me time and in some instances money.

1. Do I need a medical? (For the Gepik....Yes you do. Had I been told this I could have had it while I still had an insurance card. Instead, I paid out of my own pocket). (no idea if Ansan English Camp requires this)

2. Do I need a criminal records check? (For the GepikYes you do. Again, told this after I was hired, and since I was not in my home country very difficult to do. Much easier if you get the check while you are still at home).
Again, check to see if the English Village requires this.

3. Took me many many emails to find out my address. I needed it to arrange for my belongings to be delivered by the moving company. Their response was that I should not send boxes through the mail if I was not there to pick them up!! This was after telling them repeatedly that a mover was delivering them. As it was I had to wait almost a week after getting back to Korea to get my stuff because the movers were busy.

There were lots of other little things with Workn'play that added up to aggravation for me. However, they are legit, and you could do worse. Be persistent with them, and if you have a question ask.

Oido..................is at the very end of line 4. It's on the coast. I was there once, and it wasn't really memorable. I live on the same subway line, and am about 1+ hours out of downtown Seoul. From Oido you would be looking at close to 2 hours.

17-19 pyong is a large apartment. Trust me, many of us are not that lucky!

One of the teachers in that program was in my masters program. She never said anything negative about the English Camp, but we never really discussed it in great detail. I have finished the program, and am not in touch with her anymore, so I can't really help you there.

Have you asked the recruiter for names of teachers who work there?

Good luck

CT
