From the folks who brought you a live webcast interview with Dave Sperling at Kotesol 2003 comes this latest experiment in webcasting.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Worldbridges LiveWIRE - http://worldbridges.com/livewire/
After years of playing with webcasting possibilities, Worldbridges is finally ready to host its first live participant call-in webcast or LiveWIRE (Webcasting Interactive Recorded Experience). This will be part system check, part info exchange, and part communal brainstorming session.
The show will begin at
Sat. May 7, 8pm (U.S. West Coast)
Sat. May 7, 11pm (U.S. East Coast)
Sunday May 8, 4am (UK-GMT)
Sunday May 8, noon (Korea/Japan)
I will be hosting the show from my home PC. Using Skype, listeners from anywhere in the world will be able to call in and discuss the use of this kind of webcasting technology in the world of EFL and beyond. Up to 5 participants can join the discussion at one time. There will also be an active chat room during the LiveWIRE.
For those who have not already used Skype, it is a very useful telephony program and basic service is free. The program can be downloaded from http://skype.com/.
If you will be unable to listen or participate in the show live, but have questions or comments youd like to contribute, please Skype 'Worldbridges' beforehand and leave a voicemail. We should be able to play some voicemails during the show. We will also be uploading an mp3 of the show after it is finished.
Topics to be discussed include
- How this kind of technology can be used in classroom activities, independent learning, and professional development.
- The technical requirements and challenges involved in producing this kind of webcast.
- Possibilities of organizing webcasting co-ops or other arrangements that would minimize the individual investment necessary to produce LiveWires.
