I was considering buying a pet bird for my tropical balcony with summer approaching and it reminded me of my last failure in the pet department.
Two winters ago, I bought a blue budgie for my apartment to keep me company on cold winter nights. One night I returned to my house empty handed after a nights drinking in Hongdae.
It was the middle of winter and the outside temperature was severe, almost -10C. The blue budgie had embarked on some strange kinda song ritual, it was driving me insane. So I decided to relocate him to my outide balcony albeit it just for a short time.
Sure enough, I passed out into a comatose sleep. I completely forgot about my blue friend residing in the open window balcony outside.
The next morning I awoke but there was no more noise coming from outside. Went outside and opened the door to his cage.
My poor blue budgie had dropped into the drinking water below. It had metamorphsised into a frozen blue budgie.
Considering selling Lotte the idea for a new icecream: 'The frozen blue budgie suprise'. |

Can we stop telling stories about dead birds? It's so heavier than air. |

how about a dead hamster story?
really, you should have tried to revive the poor birdie. put him in the toaster oven, wrap him in a warm towel or something.
microwave him. just a few seconds.
i say that jokingly, but in reality, my sister tried to unfreeze her iced hamsterwhen we were kids. she made the same mistake as you. the thing was keeping her up at night.
then next morning it was frozen solid. but, she held it up to her body and caressed it in a warm towel.
do you think it worked?...er, well...she gave up after a while and put the lifeless rodent back in it's cage.
about a half hour later, that thing was up 'en at 'em...nibbling on some grub.
it was a miracle.
then it died for good that evening. |

I saw some documentary about chickens once. This lady had some pet chickens without names and some blizzard blew through. She found every chicken but one and the next she found it under the deck frozen solid. She brought inside and gave it CPR. Nothing. A few hours later it was the same old chicken. Stayed inside watching TV a few days, which it just loved according to the lady, and then went back to the coop. The lady even named it. Really makes you wonder about cryogenics.
Reflections, maybe you should consider a bird that doesn't sing or at least consider the closet next time. |
