Quote:
US President George W Bush has praised a new law in Iraq that will allow former members of Saddam Hussein's Baath party to return to public life.

Mr Bush called it an important step towards national reconciliation.

The Baath party, formed mainly from Iraq's Sunni minority, was declared illegal after the US-led invasion of the country in 2003.

The US had been urging Iraq's Shia-led government to approve the move in a bid to reach out to minority Sunni Arabs.

The new law will allow thousands of former party members to apply for reinstatement in the civil service and military.

Sometimes you have to do what you have to do.

As long as they are not engaged in a war against the US

To help try to bring different sides together.

It was never the goal of the US to divide up Iraq though that might be a good idea since Iraq should never have been created the was in the first place. Like all mideast nations except for Egypt and Iran it is a artificial nation put together from the Ottoman Empire.

That's true. I've never seen someone talk about Baathists more than you Joo. To hear you tell it, the Baathists were worse than anyone since Hitler.

But you gotta do what you gotta do. Rolling Eyes

Well they are pretty bad. Saddam was worse than Idi Amin. And they were out to conquer the gulf. One reason was to use gulf oil to blackmail the US. Iraq has a right to Iraqi oil but Saddam didn't have a right to Kuwaiti oil .

And again one of his reasons for wanting it was he wanted to blackmail the US.

Someone ought to tell the truth about what Bathists , Khomeni followers and Al Qaedists are about.
