I spent a couple days there.. and also made it to Galway which was REALLY cool.. typical Irish touristy stuff.. like great live music everywhere in the clubs drinking Guiness.. musicians everywhere.. picturesque place.
Dublin was also Ireland of course.. but more or less a big city.. if you get any chance at all.. try to get to Galway! Dublin is very much an industrial city with some of the more tourist stuff.. but doesn't compare at to Galway for the full-on experience. |

You got to go the Kilmainham jail and take the tour. It gives you a great history of the struggles of the country since most of their heroes who fought for independence were executed there. The guides there were awesome. They tell great stories.
Dublin Castle is good for a laugh too. Take their tour and learn about the sighted Justice and so on.
Christ Cathedral church with its leaning wall and St. Patrick cathedral are worth looks too.
Dublin has those big red tour buses. If you're only there for two days, buy the day pass. They'll show you almost everything of importance. |

i am back in dublin now after 2 years in korea.
i recommend doing trinity, christchurch, the guinness storehouse, a walk around the georgian area and malahide castle in one day and a trip to powercourt and glendalough outside of the city on the other.
then get furiously drunk in the evenings and swear at the occasional korean you might see in hangul. they love that foreigners have an appreciation of their culture. |

The Dublin Writer's Museum, as you seem to be interested in the local literary history - and there's plenty of it in Dublin. |

I wouldn't expect too much from the Guinness museum, are you really interested enough in how they make it to spend 14 euros? The view from the bar at the top is great though. |

Yeh, the Guinness museum is a bit of a waste. the Dublin literary pub crawl is far better and you can get pissed under the banner of 'literature'.
Good bars:
Long Haul
Slatterys
4 Dame Lane
Globe
or check out http://www.dublinpubscene.com/
Theres not that much to see in Dublin, but most people just enjoy walking around the city centre and visiting the odd museum/park etc..
Get the DART train down the coast from the city centre as theres some nice places to see in Killiney, Dalkey etc..
Outside Dublin; Galway, Burren, Kilkenny, various other green fields and whatnot..
Powerscourt and Glendalough are worth a look too.. |

the best bit about the guinness museum was a big circular pillar where you could pin pieces of paper with a message of your choosing on them
Mostly it was people going
"Denny and Kelso UCLA Spring Break 2004!
Guinness rocks my face off! GO WILDCATS!!"
but someone was employed to constantly go round removing all of the obscene ones- drawings of a man resting his pint on a girl's back as they go at it hammer and tongs etc. |
