Can anyone direct me to some useful information about the process of getting a letter of release from a hogwan? Has anyone here been through the process? I clicked on the ESL Law link and only got an ad for a conference. Is there an immigration form one needs to fill out, or a standard document one can take to the director? Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer. |

Go to the FAQ's, Breaking a contract. You'll find a sample letter of release there. |

thanks for that - I knew the info was here somewhere, just didn't have time to search through the 966 links that came up when I used the search engine.
Anyways, another question: I have a friend who's been here a while who says that after 9 months you can just walk away from your E2 and get another job. Has anyone else heard that, too, or is he just talking out of his ass? |

you can walk away without having to pay airfare etc back. But, if he wants a new job he has to have a Letter of Release. |

I do believe he is talking out of his ass. I've never heard that before. To my knowledge, E2 visas always require a letter of release.
With that being said, however, I have read on here that some people have secured a second job without the letter of release. For whatever reason, they said they didn't need it or it didn't come up. I've never had the displeasure of needing a letter of release so I can't say for certain. |
