I have searched Dave's but I can't find clear directions to 1)Hannam Supermarket, and 2) the foriegn food section at Nandemuen Market.
Detailed info travelling by subway is appreciated--looking for oats/Meal Replacement Bars/etc. |

Never been to Namdaemun, but to get to Hannam supermarket":

| Take subway line #6 to Hangangjin station, go out of exit #2, walk forward on the sidewalk as it makes a half-circle and you'll see a flyover pedestrian bridge. Cross the bridge, continue to walk forward until you see the Volvo building on your left. The market is down the stairs and you'll see the market's name on an awning above the stairs. |

| Let me add one thing to the above directions to clarify: when you walk over the pedestrian bridge, you'll be faced with a decision to descend to the left, toward the Harley Davidson shop, or to the right. Go to the right and walk forward a little ways. You'll shortly come to the Volvo building and the awning leading down the stairs to Hannam Supermarket. On your way in, check out the tiny Dandy's corner foreign food stall on the left; they have some things that Hannam doesn't, like whole wheat flour. |

I made a trip to Hannam yesterday, and as usual, lots of good stuff.
Here is a tip. Do some comparison shopping between Hannam market and the little grocery/deli on the left just as you go in the door. He has lots of the same stuff as Hannam, and his prices are generally lower.......500-1000won for each item. That difference can add up to big savings.
Also, both stock many products that have been purchased from Costco. If you have easy access to one of the Costco stores around (unfortunately I no longer do). You can save the mark-up if you can go to Costco yourself.
Hope this helps!

Thank you for this helpful post!
I just finished a block of Cadbury Caramello and am looking forward to cheese sandwiches tomorrow after my trip up north to the big city today.
And as CT said, Mr Dandy has less stuff but it is a bit cheaper, my cheese was almost W1000 less than next door in Hannam. |
