|
|
I have some friends coming to visit me from China (American college friend with his Chinese wife) and they'll only be in Seoul two days. I want to find them a clean, but affordable motel/yogwan that's relatively near where I live in Shinchon. They've been living on Chinese wages for years so I'm trying to find something that's 10-20,000 won a night. Accomodations this cheap don't tend to be advertised on the tourism websites, so thought I'd check here to see if any has had any positive experiences in yogwans in the Shinchon area.
Thanks in advance!

| Most yeogwans go for minimum of 30,000 a night, and in an area like Shincheon possibly higher. You might want to look into hostels |

| Do you have a little extra cash so that you could pay 60k to put them up in a yogwan? I'm sure they would appreciate it. Or if they would be offended, maybe scope out a yogwan in advance and talk to the person running it. Pay 40k up front and then tell your bud that it only costs 10k per night? Good luck, I hope that you find something that works! |

Is that Shinchon near Ewha University?
I know someone who stays at a place called the International Guest House or something like that.,. not really sure. That place is about 30,000 won? Or I think dorm rooms go for 20,000?? |

Thanks for the suggestions...the WOW guesthouse looks okay, but Yonsei is a bit of a walk from Sogang. There is a "motel" near me that I'll look into...
That's a good idea about paying ahead of time for them...I can deal with parting with 40,000. I think if they knew I'd paid for them they'd be embarrassed, as I am just a student, too. But if I did it secretly...
If anyone has any other ideas about decent, kind of "Korean-y" places to stay, let me know!

| Love Hotels/Motels are an idea. Any in Shinchon? And how much per night? (I realize it's generally by the hour, but how much for a full night)? I think my friends would find the concept amusing and it would be part of experiencing "Korean life"... |

| I had four friends come up to Seoul from Kunsan, and they stayed in a motel in Sinchon for 30,000 won/night. Two to a room, so they got two rooms, and each paid 15,000 won/night. |
