Hanmail is either trying to kill off spam or discriminate against foreigners... probably both.
Whenever I send a message, I must answer a math problem in Korean. It's written in a wavy text so computers can't pick it up and answer it automatically.
Anyone else have this? |

Guess it shows our differing opinions on Korea.
You immediately think they are discriminating against the foreigner.
I think... once again they think of a solution without considering an "global" implecations. |

The bigger problem with Hanmail is that it blocks (or at least used to) a lot of American free email providers. |

Exactly. I was emailing the webmaster WAY back when they started blocking Hotmail from getting through, and he basically said that they couldn't program a good filter, so they just blocked the entire system. Oh yeah, it's all about incompetence (so much for wanting to be an IT powerhouse... sorry, but programmers here know squat about security).
Thanks to Derrek's heads up, I tested out hanmail for the first time in about 2 years. No problems (no, not even whatever math problem test thingy D was venting about). Hanmail, at least from the test emails I just sent out, no longer blocks Hotmail, Yahoo, or Gmail. All three got through with nary a problem.
One difference I noticed, I suppose as a compromise to the we-can't-program-filters excuse, is that the email logs the IP address of the sender, and allows you to block the entire IP address if you determine it was a spammer. A compromise I can live with as long as my email continues to get through to my hanmail friends.
