I just downloaded and started using emule yesterday.
So far i've been able to get a couple cool vids and games off of it. I've had a few problems though...
One of the movies I downloaded will not play on windows media player. I tried to download/update my codec files but that didn't seem to help. I also tried it with another player, again, no go. Any thoughts?
Also, I downloaded "Hitch" and it was "cam corder" quality. Is there any way to tell the files quality before download? |

VLC will play almost anything............Just search for "video lan player" in google....it might be Http://www.vlc.org
as far as telling if a movie is good quality or not, if it's below 700MB or so, then it won't be a good quality movie. |

I think changing the size and overall distraction caused by your signature would help.

I use Firefox's block images function. Life is good. |

Yeah....I like to see the avatars and stuff though. Dunno what it is about the sig...too blue, too big.....seems his posts are hard to find in the deep blue. I guess it's just too much. His site... http://www.coreacanada.com ...(if he is Ed, the admin?!) is full of cartoon art...some I think are much more subtle but perhaps less pertinent. |

WOW, I had no idea my banner was such a distraction to you.
My appologies. It has been removed. I hope it now no longer impedes your ability to reply to my posts/questions.
Serously though, don't you think a suggestive PM might have been better? |

I guess so....sorry. I didn't expect you to remove it! Put it back up man...I am just whining I guess.
huck is correct. Look for "DVD Rip" or a "DivX" file. I do have some of these that are below 700MB and the quality is good.
If you need or want subtitles in Korean (perhaps you have some Korean friends, a wife or girlfriend) then gomplayer is great. Its a unicode program, so as long as you have Korean installed on your system, it will read ok. The program has a button on the bottom near the center "ڸ" that will hook you up to their site and get some subtitles.
For this to work best, don't rename the files at all. Also, if it only finds a few subtitles and none match your rip, do a search at the top right for the full list of subtitles for that movie.
Gomplayer seems to handle everything I throw at it. Not sure what codecs it uses, if any. May well work on the same idea as VLC player....kind of codec-free.
Anyways, sorry again about the open complaint. |

Emule will display a red or green !-in-a-box next to the filename if anyone has commented about the file - right click on the file and choose "Show comments" or whatever. |

Wow, that comments section saved me some time.
I downloaded a movie that is a mpeg (?) format. Seems strange to me and i can't get it to play (even with VLC). Any ideas? |

Get hold of a program called 'GSpot' (no, really) - it examines video files and tells you what codecs you need to view them. |

my wife will be so happy when she sees this search.
edit: interesting program but it didn't solve the problem. chances are that file is corrupted/just not working then. |

I second that...I use G Spot as well. It will tell you just what codecs you need.
G Spot's great, if you can find it. |

I searched all over for G-Spot. If you Google it, I suggest using more search words that just "G-Spot" or "G-Spot Video." |
