For those of you who don't get AFN anymore, what program do you miss the most?
I miss Saturday Night Live the most, followed by the simpsons. A close call. |

What has happened that people suddenly don't receive AFN anymore?
*EDIT* -- Okay, let me make a guess. I have a cable TV package of channels, but I also have a small portable (car-type) TV on my bedside table that's not on cable. It picks up AFN just fine (with some tweaking of the aerial). So, I'm guessing I can only do this because I'm in Seoul and within range of AFN's transmitter. And the rest of you who no longer receive AFN (again, what has happened and when?) are not in Seoul.

This isn't about AFN-TV, but AFN-Radio.
From 2002 to last year, there was a morning skit called "The Korean phrase of the day with Mr. Pak" It was kinda cool to hear the GIs stumble around trying to speak korean.
I loved waking up to that and it came in handy on some occasions |

When I move home I know I'll miss getting Leno and Letterman back to back on one channel. |

Yes, certainly the Simpsons, Letterman, any of the CSI series, Without a Trace, Cold Case , the West Wing. And why does have to travel to a so-called third-world country to get decent TV? 'Dynamic Korea' is going backwards on this one. (Although Remington Steele is on later at night. Still rather thin gruel, given the possibilities.) One of my students is downloading and burning 'Desperate Housewives'. He's clearly hacked off with 47 shopping channels, 29 music channels, and seven channels featuring traditional confucian guys in mickey-mouse hats abusing women. If I were to stay much longer, I'd spring for a satellite dish. |
