Got a chipped ps2 and was told that it would second as a multi region dvd player, but my region 1 discs are a nogo? Was I misled or am I just a chimp with a wheel?

buy a dvd player... they're cheap as chips.. plus watching dvds on your PS2 isnt the best thing for it.
