Ok, ive been hearing that furniture in teacher apts is hardly the epitomy in style (not that IKEA is either but you can find nice stuff and its cheap), so my question is, is there an IKEA in Seoul or an Ikea style place were you can find nice-ish stuff for low prices?
Directions would be hugely apreciated  |

i dunno bout seoul, but daegu has an ikea dealer.
the products come from japan and are double the price of north american stores.
if there is a dealer in daegu, there must be in seoul. kangnam would be my best bet. |

I noticed some IKEA stuff at a shop called Kosney at home the other day. There's one in COEX and another in Technomart.
REally though, furniture is cheapish here anyway, you probably won't have a ton of space, and you've got a new country to explore, don't worry about what your appartment looks like! |

Do not worry about furniture. Lots of us go to the places called "find it and drag it home". Koreans are a throw away society. Most of my furniture came from the side of the road. THere are also some good second hand shops, but you have to look at many of them. I just got a great table and 4 chairs, for 50,000 won. (the dollar and won are the same these days). I could cry at times at the great furniture I see on the sides of the roda, that either I have no room for, or i can no way drag home.
Peppermint is right, wait till you come here to be concerned. Your apartment may be a box where you alone can barely fit. This is a good place Korea. Explore it.
Hope u get a good job, or at least a half-way decent one. And we are always here to help.
You will find alot of nice people here (and some that you want to strangle too). COme here with an open mind. Just ty and not your boss rip you off. |

At the top of one of those fashion towers in Dongdaemun there's also a "proudly serving Ikea furniture and kitsch" store. Another cool house wares store is in the Lotto Young Plaza place near Myeong Dong. It's a Japanese chain called Muji or something like that. Neat stuff.
But yeah, unless you can't live without the very coolest furniture or you plan to be a lifer or you plan to spend every non teaching moment in your apartment and plan to bring home women who will judge you on your furniture, it seems a bit silly to spend a lot of money on stuff you can't move home. My furnishings are quite adequate.
Sometimes dumpster diving in Korea is the best way to furnish your place. Koreans throw out a lot of nice stuff. |

Im not too worried about the furniture but I do like nice stuff and my house to look good.
Im surprised so much stuff seems to get chucked out. Not that I have any compunction about bringing stuff in from the street 
My mum was my mentor with this and now i cant walk past a skip without taking a look for bubble wrap thinking "you never know when this might come in handy I think im turning into my mother  |
