So in a week and a half I'm going to be traveling around Korea for about 12 days, Seoul, Daegu mostly, the ocean, some other undecided places. I've also been looking at jobs over there too, hoping to start around the end of August. I've been working for a few years as a web programmer and while most of my experience is there, I'm very open and interested in teaching as well. So far though, any jobs other than teaching have been rather difficult to find from the US here. That and theres a growing number of Korean webmasters that Im finding dont understand things like browser compatibility and basic, functional web pages. Also, it seems most of the teaching jobs only advertise 30-45 days in advance of the start date. I'd hoped to be able to check out a few places, maybe even interview and am looking at contacting some, but haven't seen any yet advertising for late August. Also, I wouldn't mind the chance to be able to talk with some teachers and see what they have to say in person as compared to online. Or any other recommendations really.

I've been talking a bit with a recruiter, Angel Recruiting, any thoughts on them? May 30-June 2 Ill be in Daegu with some time to kill. That's primarily where Ill be looking for jobs as I have some friends there already. Any one interested in helping out?

Thanks~

Unless you are a kyopo, it will be difficult to find a job outside of teaching. Koreans get first shot at those.

Your best bet is to look for a teaching job once you get to Daegu. Your friends can direct you to the hakwons in the city and you can drop in.

If you want to be close to your people in Daegu, you can have my job in Jeomchon, which is about 90 minutes away. I'll be leaving in late August. You can look at your start date being the 22nd or 29th, whichever you prefer.

Ya-ta Boy: Yeah, I'm not placing much stock in being able to find a computer job from here, especially since my Korean is...sub-par. When I'm there I'll see if someone can show me around, go and talk to some schools, drop of resumes, all that fun stuff.

Badmojo: heh, thanks for the offer. Think I'll be looking within Daegu itself though, never lived in a city larger than 30,000 people before so want to give that a try. I was told that Jeomchon's a small town, not much there. Course then I look up what I can find through Google and it's a bit bigger than the town I live in here. The person who said it's a small town has been here to Bozeman twice now and loved it, so I'm curious what her definition of "not much there" really is.
