Thinking that any white person can teach English. (Or maybe I should say any white person from one of 6 countries that English teachers are supposed to come from.) |

I don't see this as a bad thing. I can think of two excuses right away.
1. There's such a shortage of English teachers from English speaking countries here that yes, they will hire people without teaching experience. In exchange for a paid apartment and a decent salary, they hope that these people will make a respectable effort to learn how to teach on the job. In this sense, I don't agree with you that Koreans think that all white people can teach. They just hope you'll try.
2. Another possibility is that there are exaggerating recruiters who find "teachers" for many of the schools here. I'm sure they describe their recruits as "super teachers" when they're pretty far from it. |

This is annoying. I can't remember how this came up, but a group of boys in one of my classes pointed-out that student X was not a Christian. "Good for you Student X. I'm not a Christian either."

refusing to speak in korean even when i begin with an ȳϼ or whatever.. i find it absolutely impossible to learn this language because people only ever want to speak english to me.
asking if i like korean girls. if i say yes, then 'ahh... yes.. there are many bad foreigners in korea who just want to have sex with girls'... and if i say no.. 'why, whats wrong with them!?'
asking 'isn't this food too spicy for you?'. no, clearly it isn't, since i wouldn't have ordered it otherwise!
yeah the christians are bloody annoying too. running up to me in myeongdong and shouting hallelujah in my face.. i tend to judge religions based on how much they get in my face or annoy me, and on that score christianity and islam do pretty badly. there isn't much of the latter in korea, but more than enough of the former.
and finally...
even after people know i'm from england, beginning sentences with, 'in america, how do you do x/y/z?' |

...or thinking that any white guy in the ESL section of a bookstore knows exactly what textbook they should buy and would like to tutor their children. |

I think it's weird when random people approach you to teach them English. They don't know me. I could be an ax murderer or something. Gosh, you could give them a fake name, get the money up front, and never show for the lessons. Har, har~
Then there are guys who want "English lessons", and say they'll pay 100,000 plus an hour. Um, yeah, right, you want me to meet you at 8pm at some swanky bar in Kangnam for an "English lesson" nudge, nudge, wink, wink. English teacher does not equal 'ho for sale. |

Yeah! Sounds like price-rigging going on here! Let the free market decide! |
