All I have to say is that if the US wants a less controversial way of getting information out of insurgents in Iraq, they should get them liquored up every night and force them to teach kindie classes the next day. They'll crack within a few days.

Heh.

Used to a bit more, friends had weekly Thursday dinner and drink nights that frequently went on way late. Nowadays it's like once a month or two when I go in with not quite enough sleep. Not fun at all, because I've got to be able to concentrate in all of my classes.

Only been truly hung over at work a handful of times in three years.

I think I've been hungover twice in the past year of teaching.

Two other times I was so hungover in the morning, I had to keep drinking to get well. So when the afternoon rolled around, I was definitely still drunk. If anybody was the wiser those two times, I never found out about it. The second time was pretty bad though because I never stopped drinking that whole day, even after work started. I was chugging a pitcher of Hite in the teacher's room between classes or in the bathroom stall during class. Kinda brought me back to the job I had working for the Parks department during university summers. Kingcans on the Kubotas, baby. You can't beat it.

Never. I think it is unprofessional and something I can't imagine myself doing.

That was either trolling or truly pathetic badmojo....

As for me happened a couple of times that I was feeling less then a 100% in the morning. This was usually because of a party the night before (teacher leaving, b-day...).

Showing up to work drunk and drinking on the job (any job) is simply pathetic however.

If you do...seek help.

I always find it amusing on the internet when someone with a masked identity tells another person with a masked identity to 'seek help'.

So do tell Homer, have you given up the life of a teacher for the lucrative profession of psychology/psychiatry??

I kinda think that you are stretching your professional capabilities, somewhat. Maybe you should stick to the classroom - leave the medical advice for people in the know>

Besides, are you now working at the Itaewon clinic? Do tell...

Yeah, seriously, is this for reals? I'm not criticizing, as I think it's hilarious. But do they really let you drink beer in the teacher's room? Am I missing a joke here?

They do when there's no one else in there.

As for the angels singing to me, you sure sing a beautiful tune.

Things have improved since I moved into my school. No more buses to work in the mornings. Now I wake up, sometimes shower, and stroll into class ready to go. Also my work starts at about 4pm, which makes going out a lot easier the next day.

Lately I've switched from drinking very late, to playing video games at the PC bong (helps save money). I don't know which is worse: drinking makes coming home at 4 and sleeping very easy; PC bong coffee keeps me going until about 6-7am.

Since I've cut drinking down quite a bit, the weekend benders lead to extreme hangovers. Never really happened before.

Oddly enough, I find a touch of morning-after dizziness often leads to some of my most successful classes. More simplicity & spontaneity.

Poor man's joint.

Overly sober teachers wouldnt get that, but my students benefit.

Oh my, you are quite the night bird. Shocked Are the only two options drinking or playing video games? Do you ever drink and play the video games at the same time? How does that go over? Have you no other hobbies? I'm just curious. Don't take this as an insult. I know some people who are wizards at video games. I don't understand them, but I know them.

Where's the poll option for "every day without fail"?

The PC Bang coffee is bang (groan) on the money too though. 100 Won for a shot of pure caffeine that keeps you going until you're ejected from the premises for getting too upset about losing at Kartrider for the 1000th time.

It's a wonderful life.

I have had some good classes hungover. Really, not kidding, and not sure why. Only truly been out of it a few times over the many years here. Today might be one worst hangovers in a long, long, long time. A timely post really. Mangaged the day, though!

Interesting observation. I enjoy a tipple, but generally restrict it to weekends, except for the occasional night when my first class isn't until 3PM. Sometimes the effects haven't been fully shaken off, and an unprecedented degree of focus is required. At those rare moments, I feel as if I'm really in the 'zone'. (Then I go home and zone out.)
