OK, I know it has been alluded to in other threads about illegal foreigners and such but I think there might actually be something going on at immigration nowadays.
I am being sponsored by *&^%%$ company adding to my F2 visa with an E2. Anyways, I went to immi and all went fine. It actually took only about 20 mins. Got the stamp, paid the blood money, and away I went.
Now though immigration is reportedly circulating to institutes in the Seoul areas that E2 visas require transcripts for varification and processing.
I'm not sure if this is an official rule, something the offices have recently dreamed up, or just a trial run. But I thought i'd bring it into one official thread at let others share their recent experiences with it. |

Immigration took my transcripts when they processed my E2 in January. If I get a release letter and a new job lined up, what happens to my E2? More to the point, do they need my transcripts again? I have my diploma BTW. I heard somewhere that you can transfer your E2 once. Is that accurate? |

It's my understanding that Gyonggido immigration office required transcripts for an E-2 ever since 2003. ( had a very short job in another province in 2004 and they didn't need them) |

A few months ago I got a on a kick to have immigration stop using diplomas and start using transcripts. It would be big headed of me to say I changed things in Korea but I'm glad the change is happening as long as they use the transcripts correctly. Back in the big organization world I was required to make recommendations and more often then not they would take part of the recommendation and use it in such a way the whole thing would be wrong. It looks like they are at it again. |

I got a two year E2 visa in February from Seoul and they didn't ask for or mention that I needed to show my transcripts which I didn't. |

That's why, if you have a F-2, asking for *permission to engage in activities not covered by sojourn* is so much easier - they don't ask for anything except a contract and prove that you are still married (hubby/wife's hojock). |

My experience on the F-2 was the same as tzechuk's - never needed to show the degree or transcripts to get E-2 permissions added to it. |

Working in Gyeonggi-do now - my boyfriend didn't need transcripts for his E-2 when his employer applied the first week of March. My employer applied a week later, and my transcripts were mandatory. |

I never needed transcripts for any of my E-7 visas to be added to my F2-1.

Thats just because no one there actually believed you even made it out of high school, let alone college. They also probably wanted to know so they could be sure to look at grads from your school in a new light. Face it, you are special! |

The newest teacher at my school needed to provide transcripts. This was late last month (March 2005).
For renewals you only need your new contract, passport, ARC and 30 000won |
