Well, I seem to have a problem that I would really like an answer to. My girlfriend and I are both Canadian and have paid our Pension regularly off our paycheque at our Hagwon since April 2004. We are leaving on July 1st to go back to Canada so we were going to go to the Pension Office and get the Lump-Sum refund.
Here is the problem. When we called the Office she informed us thhat our Hagwon has not paid all of the Pension every month, and in fact have missed 6 months over the last 13 months. If they don't pay it, we can't claim it back! We have records on our paystubs that it was deducted from us, but it never ended up at the Pension Office. Both our contribution and the Hagwon contribution never made it to the Office for 6 months (and these are sporadic months like May, November, December 2004 and January, March and April 2005)
What can we do??? We are supposed to leave in 5 weeks and I want this resolved before I get back to Canada and have limited ability to contact Korea effectively.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! |

call the labour board at 1350, that's a contract violation. |

Of course...visit the labor office...do not call them. Take your pay statements along also. If the hakwon owner has not paid..you have just opened up a can of worms for him! And he'll blame it on the tax office or some other excuse! Shyster! ALL hakwon owners. And I am using a wide paint brush. |

Sorry to hear about your problem. Hope it works out. Follow the advice posted here. Try to twist their arm without them realizing it. |
