Unless I'm sadly mistaken, one CANNOT go on a visa run to Taiwan, as S. Korea does not have(political) diplomatic relations w/ the Republic of China.

It was a long time ago, but I got one of my visas in Taiwan. As far as I know, things haven't changed.

True, no official diplomatic ties (like most countries, in fact, including UK and USA) but there is both a Mission and a Trade and Cultural Office. Tel numbers are 2758-8320 and 3725-2324.

And if you're from the US (imagine this applies in Canada as well), they'll ask you for a "home" address and direct you to the consulate for THAT address. I'm from Detroit but did a visa run to L.A. No dice--had to express mail my stuff to the Chicago consulate. Isn't bureaucracy wonderful?

Doesn't apply in Canada, because the consulate nearest my house is in Montreal, but I've gotten my visa in Toronto twice.
