In our University we have Teacher Coordinators. They attend a lot of meetings, do lots of mentoring and tons and nuts and bolt type tasks. I was quite fortunate in my first teaching year at this University I was fortunate to have had excellent coordinators. Not all there now and very missed. There was always a smile and a sincere word of encouragement. There always seem to be time to sit down and chat about the classroom and being a better teacher. I was amazed that a person could carry a normal teaching load, attend tons of meetings, do all the nuts and bolt stuff required and still have time to give the teachers some proper mentoring and encouragement. When I learned how much extra they were paid for all their effort, I was truly shocked and saddened. Anyway, I was thinking about this today and decided that it would be nice to put something positive in the forum.
