What part of looking for a job irritates you the most?
a) Seeing a job on the list that might be OK and trying to figure out if you should apply in case nothing better comes along?
b) Knowing that once you sign on the dotted line you are committed for the year when you just know a really interesting one will show up in 3 months?
c) Sending in all the documents to a job you really want and then waiting...and waiting...and waiting for a response that never comes. Meanwhile you let several other jobs go by.
d) any other ideas? |

I hate slogging through all of the poorly written advertisements, speaking to unprofessional foreign representatives (with the Koreans I can at least PRETEND that they seem unprofessional because the interview is being conducted in a foreign language -- so maybe they do not KNOW how rude or stupid they sound...but the foreigners OUGHT to know).
I just read a university advertisement that lists a "pension scheme" as a benefit....
I just want to send 'em an email: "Ya see, in cases of synonyms with significantly different connotations, a native speaker is invaluable -- for example, there is a world of difference between 'scheme' and 'plan,' even though your electronic dictionary said they meant the same thing. I know you picked scheme because it was longer, but you see, sometimes size DOESN'T matter...."
...and ya know whut? It prolly IS a pension scheme...I think we had one at Wonderland all those years ago.... |

1) When I've applied, I've asked to speak with a current teacher. The "teacher" they let me talk to was obviously a recruiter.
2) The aforementioned recruiter, even though hearing that I've lived here for two years, would say stupid things, such as "do you know how to say "hello" in Korean? Do you know how to take a taxi here? Korean food is really good. I can help you adjust to living in Korea because I've been here for a long time (3 years) and I know everything."
3) I stated adamently in my email that I do not teach kids at all, for whatever reason and cost. I thought this interview at a college was going well, until she told me I'd have three kids classes a day(more kids than college students.). I told her if she read my email. She said yes. Then she seemed put off when I told her I wasn't going to take the job.
4) I've made the mistake of giving my resume and pic to some recruiting agencies. In my cover letter/email, I state that I only want to teach adults/college students. But I get offers poured all over to teach kindie, saying I have a "nice kindie teacher" kind of face from my pic and that's what I'm best suited for Very insulting. Your pic means 100% to some of these people. |

It's pretty easy to get a job these days because of the crackdown on illegal teachers. Schools are having trouble finding warm bodies. |

bobbyhanlon is correct. "Pension scheme" is correct for a legitimate and properly administered pension plan. This is a context in which the word "scheme" does not normally have a negative connotation. |

I thought of another one.
I really hate the feeling of being interested in a job/city, but I run across a post on the blacklist from someone I consider to be a lunatic. How much credence do you give it? |
