hello fellow veggies!

i went to sm resto last week and they actually sell veggie meats. i got faux chicken nuggets, faux beef and some mushroom things. i've tried the "chicken" and it was great. the beef was good, though my boyfriend who is very allergic to peanuts was ill, so if you have a legume allergy avoid that one, and i haven't tried the mushroom thing, but i'm sure it will be delicious. the veggie meats come from that website http://vegefood.x-y.net/eng/ that was posted before.

to get there go to yangai station (exit 5?) and take the 4312 past the woori bank and ding the bell. it's accross from the paris baguette.

Yikes, this is confusing. I'm not a big fake meat eater, but I have tried a few of these products (mainly at the SM buffet) and liked them. But according to their Web site, the fake chicken "nuggets" and "soy beef" have a dairy product (whey protein), although this ingredient is not listed on their "soy barbecue" and "soy chicken meatballs." For some reason I thought they were the same product with sauces/flavorings added??? I do try to read the ingredients (in Korean) at their stores and get help from the staff in understanding unfamiliar words ... but obviously there's a communication gap and I'll have to be more careful from now on. I'm sure I've eaten this hidden dairy product before but I do want to avoid it if at all possible.

Anyway, thanks for posting this info, Paperbag Princess. This company has been around for a while, but I think their English Web site is new.

This is an excellent way to pack your diet with overly processed food.

Agreed -- this stuff is overly processed, and processed food isn't healthy. But while we're on the subject of fake chicken, people who can stomach the truth should take a look at this information:

Why do you people have to troll? Princess is just trying to be helpful to those few vegetarians out there here in Korea. We all know how difficult it it to be a veggie in Korea because of the lack of choice - so back off and leave her be!

Faux Beef is available at Carrefour and Lotte now. Just ask the meat person behind the counter for, "Inyoook Mandu."

we eat meat conscious free, because we get it so sterile, nicely packaged plastic wrapped and in a fridge.
I guarentee if anyone went to work in a chicken slaughter house like inghams or the one in the article, you would feel different, unless you are a monster who has no feelings about anything other than what goes into your gut, and if thats the case then your in the right country.
I eat meat (insert gay joke here) but its out pure laziness and vainety that i do eat i, I work out and the best source of protein is meat.
But i have decided not to eat lamb under any circumstance, and thats a huge thing because I'm a kiwi, and we love sheep (insert sheep-loving joke here)

i suppose it's "wrong", but i really can't stand vegetarians. for some reason, they get under my skin even more than terrorists and the like. i guess that's probably because i've known a lot more veggies than i have terrorists. and i suppose for similar reasons they don't bother me as much as canadian flag wavers.

why do they bother me so much? i don't know. none of them have actively tried to get me to stop eating meat. strange as it may seem, that's part of what bothers me. if they really thought i was "murdering" someone, shouldn't they be a little more vocal about it? i'd go out to eat with them, and they would eat sticks and leaves or whatever, and i would eat a hamburger, and they wouldn't give it a second thought. if i were eating some guy's arm, would they be so nonchalant? if i saw someone eating a person, i would have to comment on it and attempt to stop it. i wouldn't even stop to consider that i might be trying to 'push my beliefs' on someone else. killing people to eat them is bad, and is different than killing animals to eat.

but that's just my opinion i suppose. but if i'm wrong, and animals are just as important as people, and should therefore not be eaten, shouldn't the carnivorous ones be held accountable for their "murders"? should we lock up crocodiles in prison and try to feed them lettuce?

enough ranting. now i'm hungry.
