there was a gardening thread on here a while ago, and i posted a picture of my garden. i'm wondering if any of you know anything about the hyacinth bean plant.

from information i read on the internet, the pods of the plant are supposed to grow to 3 or 4 inches before they dry up and fall off. i've been waiting for this to happen so that i can plant some more beans, but as you can see in the photo below, my first two pods have now grown longer than a soju bottle. is this normal? should i be concerned? should i have plucked them?

p.s. pretend you don't see all of those empty coke and beer bottles in the background.

Are they fava beans? Might be good with some liver and a nice Chianti...I hear that really increases your stamina...

That movie scares the crap out of me! Sad Cant watch it without demanding to be held. But it doesn't diminish my appreciation for Chianti! Very Happy

Are you taking a poll as to whether you should pluck these beans or not? If you're just curious, maybe you should let them grow. Who's it gonna hurt? And another thing... If you have the time to make this post, you have the time to throw away all your beer and coke bottles! Very Happy

i'm not looking for a vote. i'm just wondering if anyone out there knows any more about gardening than i do (just about nothing)

anyway... those bottles can't be thrown away. right now i'm keeping water in them to water my plants with, and once i buy some more soil, i'll cut them up and use them as planters.... see below:

Wow! Such ingenuity. I'm impressed, although... I can think of much more interesting things to grow in your greenhouse than beans! Very Happy But then again, Korea is not Oregon. I bet visine costs a million dollars here anyway. Shocked

those coke bottles look cool as planters, great idea!!

it seems you're being modest as well, obviously you have a green thumb or those beans wouldnt have grown so damn big

one more thing, do you eat that gget-nip you grow?

my dad used to grow gget-nip, gochu and hobak in our backyard- hobby and of course for consumption!
