I've been (laboriously) putting together a lesson plan and thought I would share the information. Benefit from the fruits of my labor!

I'm going to use the following text in my class as a cloze passage with pictures and definitions of the harder words. Forgive me for the lame ending, but this is for middle school students.


MAY HOLIDAYS

In Korea there are many holidays in May. They are Children�s Day, Parent�s Day and Buddha�s Birthday. Later this month we will also celebrate Teacher�s Day. This year, Children�s Day falls on May fifth (5th). Parent�s Day and Buddha�s Birthday are both on May eighth (8th). Teacher�s Day is later on May fifteenth (15th)
Children�s Day was started in 1923 by the children�s writer Pang Chong-Hwan. Nowadays Children�s Day is a very popular holiday that children can celebrate with all of their family. Korean children often receive presents from their family.
Parent�s Day in Korea was first just �Mother�s Day�, but it was changed to honor both fathers and mothers in 1973. Korean children give their parents red carnations on this day.
Korean people will celebrate Buddha�s Birthday on May eighth this year. People hang lotus lanterns on Buddha�s Birthday. The lanterns hold their wishes.
Teacher�s Day is another special celebration in Korea. Students say �thank you!� to their teachers by writing them letters or giving them flowers or other gifts.
May holidays are a lot of fun and a great time to enjoy the beautiful May weather.
