So for my next lesson i'm looking at th questions "Could you repeat that, could you spell that" etc. etc. (pulled from boggles world)

I want to change the words from omnivore, carnivore etc. to something which would peak the interest of young girls (who i am teaching) I asked my co-teacher but their only suggestion was pop songs :S

Any ideas ?

Thx

Chris

Song lyrics by Sinhwa, Eric, et. al. (any of the interchangable boy K-bobbers)

Good suggestion from your Korean co-teacher.

Also try Sweetbox. Girls seem to be in love with two of their songs: "Don't Push me" and "Cinderella"

Also try films and things from Korean comic books. Last night with my middle school girls class we went over Kingdom of Heavan and they learned catapult, armour, siege tower, Knights Templar, etc. I think next lesson I'll try teaching them chivalry and courtly conduct and see if I can get them to sit with their legs crossed and eat with their mouths shut and talk at less than 70 decibles.

I've been teaching middle and high school in Korea since 1998, and I've
discovered, but had actually intuited, that adolescents enjoy what I call
pop song English more than any other type of lesson. Of course, I don't
try to teach them songs by John Denver, Elvis Presley, or Ann Murray-
to name a few archaic artists. Much well-liked contemporary stuff, such as
songs by Avril Lavigne, who is very popular here right now, might be hard
to learn and sing with relative ease. So one can use the lyrics to form all
sorts of language games. The students identify themselves with pop songs
and find them both meaningful and enjoyable. To get students interested
and motivated in learning English, pop songs are an excellent means.
Cool

I can't seem to retrieve "Cleveland Steamer" from my memory files. What exactly is that again?
