|
|
| Hoping to go to SK in September and would love to live and work near or by the sea, as my main hobby at home is Kitesurfing. Does anyone know where in Korea I would be best suited to go? Or bit of a long shot has anyone seen anyone kitesurfing (big kite and surfboard give it away!)? |

| Haeundae is a sandbox. Maybe check out Jeju if you want to experience a real beach. There's also a nice beach in an enclave north of Haeundae. I think it's a beach called Songjong, more real and natural. |

Saw a Korean guy kitesurfing off a sand beach 30 kilometers south of Ulsan. First time I'd ever seen that; it sure looked fun.
Haendae in Pusan is 1.2 kms of sand, and a little north of that one is another beach 1km long. I've seen guys using surfboards there.
There are sand beaches all along the East Coast. PM me with your address and I'll mail you a tourist map which has the beaches marked.
Cheju has sand beaches, as well. |

The beaches here are not big enough for kite surfing...you need quite a lot of beach with minimal people and here that just doesn't happen in the time the weather is nice enough. Also the lifeguards here would freak out...the can't handle people just wading out 50 metres, i couldn't even imagine what they would do or think if they saw you kite surfing
My friends used to kite surf a bit and it sure takes a lot of forearm strength.... |

Samcheok, Donghae and of course Gangneung have great beaches,
I believe Gangnueng has the longest beach in Korea |

In which case it's longer than -- but I hate the gritty dirt there -- has nicer sand. |

Yes, a sandbox...but you can barely see it under all the people there. Luckily, very few people seem to go to the beaches in August. The water is still lukewarm, but it's apparently freezing cold to Koreans. |

If we're talking about barbed wire no-entry zones then I'd once again think that is longer.
I'm not big on beaches in general, but I might stop by there next week for a day or two. |
