means the board is probably gettiing hacked- not much they can do about that except get better firewalls and or software. |

That error message is actually fairly common with phpBB boards and being hacked is one of the more remote variables that could be happening. It's often just the result of some kinks with the DB server of using a cheap web host. He needs to talk to his host, to check his database server so they can see if it is something on their end and maybe reboot to kick out any possible kinks. If it's not the host then its likely a coding or configuration thing on his end, which hopefully one of his mods is up-to-speed on phpBB and MySql stuff and can fix it for him. |

Another reason is too much traffic for the server. Daves site is huge and generates tons of traffic. If his mysql databases are on the same server as his php and html files then the load could be causeing trouble.
Probably the best solution would be to have the databases on a seperate server and/or upgrade the equipment. |

Right on the money. My web guys told me the same thing not more than three days ago. |
