Foreign Financiers to Get Visa Favor
Foreign financiers will be able to do business here without a visa extension for up to three years from the latter half of the year, according to the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MOFE).

The ministry said yesterday that it will allow foreign financial experts to do business here for up to three years without renewing their visas as part of efforts to transform the nation into a financial hub in Northeast Asia. Shanghai, China, a rival city in the race to become a financial hub in Northeast Asia, offers two- to five-year visas to foreign financiers.

What do I know, I am not a financial expert, but my bet is that Korea i.e. Seoul will become a backwater and not a hub like Singapore, Hong Kong Shanghai, or Tokyo. Korea does so little to promote itself. Koreans are good at hard work and long hours but not good at marketing/finance and most importantly opening themselves to outsiders.

actually I find them really counter productive... coming in to work with hangovers mid week, spending time reading the newspaper, on the net, generally doing f all till lunchtime...
then of course they are stuck there till ten at night
