I just signed another year-long contract. I've been in Korea almost two years and have always had a PPS phone. I'd like a regular monthly billing type of thing. Has it gotten any easier for foreigners?? Any advice? |

everyone I know goes through LG because they don't require a security deposit and they plans are pretty good. You probably know enough Korean to go anywhere but try Itaewon or Myeon-dong. |

Thanks. Do the plans come with free phones? I already have an LG PPS phone... maybe they convert it or something.
Will I need my alien card and passport and all that? No security deposit... really?? So how does it work? You make a monthly bank transfer or something?
Anyone know an LG store that speaks English in Itaewon? |

The phone that I got was W60,000. My coworker got one a little nicer that's about that same price. They may be able to convert your old phone but I'm not positive; doesn't hurt to ask. You will need your alien card and your bank book. No security deposit. I think the start up fee will cost like 10,000/mo for 3 months or so but after that it'll just be the base monthly fee. They'll take the money straight from your bank account if you want, or you can get a bill. I got my phone in Myeong-dong (there's a ton of LG stores there, but the one I went to had a guy with almost perfect English) so I don't know of any in Itaewon, sorry. |

Thanks for the help. Last question (for now): is a year-long contract manditory? Because I'll be leaving in a little less than a year.
Kinda sucks, too... I thought if you agreed to a contract, they give you the phone for free... blast. |

Free-T prepaid is 5000 per month for the service charge. That's so low I don't think I'll ever get a contract phone. |

It all depends on how social you are and how many contacts you have. I have three numbers in mine: best friend, girlfriend and coteacher. If I call my friend and he's at home, he calls me back on his home phone. All the girlfriend and I do is text and I rarely need to call my coteacher. for 20,000 won I get one hour and that lasts me over two months |

You can get free phones but you usually have to sign for two years. I got an Ice-Cream 2 for 50,000 on a year deal with LG. |
