In the middle of the application process for one of these. The company caught a surprise or two when we went to Mokdong yesterday and now they've had to turn around and get some letter of recommendation from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism or something.
Anyone have experience trying to get one of these? Is it difficult to get the visa, or the letter of recommendation? The officer at the ministry mentioned that it's not a guarantee that the company can get said letter. I just want to be a little more prepared for what to expect than I currently am. |

Yes... for an E-7 you need a letter of invitation. I came here on a E-7. Was invited by the Ministry of Science and Technology. |

Is that letter difficult to obtain? |

I don't know... I think if you know someone who works for that ministry, then it shouldn't be difficult to get it. Otherwise, you need to prove that you are absolutely vital to the survival of the company.
My came with all the documents I needed to get my visa when I was still living in England.. so I don't really know how difficult or easy it was for my husband (he wasn't my husband then) to obtain it. |

You better get it fixed. You cannot teach with a E-7. It is illegal. |

i also have an E-7. there's a mountain of paperwork involved, but luckily my boss sorted it all for me. you need a letter of invitation from the relevant government agency, which attests that you have some particular ability which makes it desirable for them to invite you. the best thing to do, i think, is to get the CEO of your company to write to the person in charge of the agency, explaining why the sun shines out of your backside and how they couldn't live without you.
thats the main hurdle; however the visa is much better than the E-2, and lasts for two years instead of one. of course, you are still treated with the greatest of officiousness by the mokdong stamp-jockeys... |

I saw. 9 page application just for the letter. It seems like everything's okay with my obtaining the letter, though, so I'm relieved.
And don't get me started with Mokdong. |

They know I teach - it was on my contract - but not so many hours. I do more editing / office work and I guess they weighed it that way. Either way, I couldn't care less. |
