I'd like to know what people's experiences have been like with regard to roomming with another foreign teacher. Was it helpful or annoying?
I have a cousin who wants to come to Korea--she has never shared a place with anyone, and wants to know what to expect. I only had a room-mate once in Korea; at my second job I was the only foreigner, which is what I preferred, but I'd like to hear others' opinions. |

This has been covered many times before. Can't you do a search? |

I have had 3 here....
2 were fantastic and will be life-long friends (except one died from an epileptic seizure but she lived a good life...great girl)
1 was one of the biggest psychos I ever met...ended getting smacked in the head because he was hearing voices, no i never saw the punch but it required 49 stitches above my eye.
After that incident i decided never to share again...unless I knew the person i was going to live with... |

roommates are like hogwans...a total crapshoot. You really dont know what they are like until it is too late.
I dont recommend shared accomodations. You really dont want to go 1/2way around the world and end up sharing an apartment for a year with someone you end up not liking. |

Some 'great' room mate experiences (including mine) can be found in the freakiest Waygook thread.
And I still think my Japanese roommate wins top spot- come back to me when your roomate leaves feces all over the toilet seat and we'll talk. |

I had one roommate in Korea.
The good: he knew everyone and was very social.
The bad: he was an alcoholic who always was late for work, peed on the floor on a couple of occassions, and couldn't ever shut up. |
