Hello all!

Today I got an email from one James Brochu, who is "not Korean" and "not a recruiter". However he "was asked to help find a teacher for Y.E.S. English institute" and being the good guy that he is, I guess he saw my resume posted online and emailed me about a job.

I did a search on Y.E.S. English Institute but I couldn't find anything. Does anyone here have any experience with this school or know anything about it?

The school is in Ilsan. How far approximately does it take to get from Ilsan into downtown Seoul by subway?

The offer looks pretty good so far.. Single apartment that is a 5 min. walk from the school (also 5 min. walk to the subway station). He says "The institute has been operating for over 3 years and it¯s doing very well and there are 3 foreign English teachers currently working there (including one lady who has been there for over 2 years)."

Any help is much appreciated! Thanks,

Here's some stuff on YES Youngdo schools.

Nothing on that particular school. Considering how quickly bad news on schools can hit the net, no news can be often be viewed as good news. Nevertheless, it's best to talk to the current teachers who work at that one, and specifically the teacher that you are replacing.

Here's a thread on Ilsan that may help, socially:

I don't know if he is still there, but you can also try dropping IlsanMan a PM to see if he knows anything about the school.

Someone else might know better, but I believe Subway line 3- Hwajeong Stn is Ilsan, which would be 35 minutes to downtown Seoul or about an hour to the foreigner areas of Hongdae and Itaewon.

I got all this stuff by just poking around with the search feature. You'll be able to find a ton of stuff buried in this site that's accessible by typing in your keywords and select 'search for all terms' to narrow your results.

Good luck

Most institutes pay a finder's fee to anyone finding them a teacher.
If you posted your resume in the Jobs Wanted forum,
one has to pay to look through them.

It is also not uncommon for recruiters to pass them selves off as a ordinary teacher.

It is not uncommon for institutes to let people out of their contracts early, if and only if they find a replacement.

Mr. Brochu maybe an English Teacher, but caution is advised.
