I personally prefer the shorter wooden disposable ones for the "looky, I'm the walrus!" shtick. Always have.

BTW, Thorin, are all these "Help Me..." threads of yours in response to the "Help Me Order Takeout!" and "Help! Describe my symptoms in Korean!" threads? Neutral

How to use chopsticks.

Grab one chopstick firmly in your hand with the pointy end down. Twisted Evil Stab viciously into food or unsuspecting ajoshis, cackle gleefully and madly while doing so. Of course rice is quite hard to eat using this method Wink

Other uses: open box containing chopsticks and spoons on restaurant table. Throw individual chopsticks into the cieling. When you have enough chopsticks embedded in the cieling start throwing the spoons. If possible videotape the expression of the Koreans watching the crazy waygookin going insane. Twisted Evil

They're great for soup and rice pudding. Hard-boiled eggs are fun, too.

BUT!

In a completely un-ajumma moment, I have done the unthinkable, and what follows is almost a serious, helpful posting, which I found on Google:

Damn. Looks like I'm all serioused out. So, here's what else I found when googling for "chopsticks":

WTF?

If you are truly sincere in your quest to master the chopsticks, you will buy some hinged plastic trainer chopsticks sold mainly for the use of kindergarten students (they make Mashi Maru one, they are the bomb...oh yes). Make sure you use them in public.

Yeah...and the wooden ones are a lot easier to use than the metal ones...

I know a guy who has been here for over 2 and a half years and still can't use them well...it makes him crazy to the point where he won't eat any food that comes with chopsticks.
