To brag! So where have you been, what makes you so special here, what makes you stand apart from the "burger teachers" who think they are something because they can find work here? Now is your 15 seconds of fame Smile Well...............................

Ahh.. where's your modesty?!!??!

Okay, I'll bite. I went to Japan 4 times and drank beer from vending machines.

I also was homeless in New York City and slept at the airport for 4 days until I found an apartment that didn't require prepaying rent.

Oh, and I was homeless in Sao Paulo Brazil and ate bread and water for 1 month until my first paycheck.

I think I was also homeless other places.. oh yes.. San Diego. Went on unemployment there. Holy Cows of India Bless the U.S... I was able to collect welfare for an apartment until I got bored and came back to the ROK.

Oh, and I slept in a phone booth in Lansing Michigan because my car caught on fire at 3am in the morning and no one knew how to get there and get me at that time in the morning.

Oh, and I almost died in Venezuela. A bunch of guys tried to rob, strangle, and kill me. But they didn't kill me.. I wobbled my way to the US embassy and explained everyday for the next 6 days how I actually was an American and wouldn't mind getting another passport so I could go back on home as I had to get back to work to pay more taxes.

And lets see.. what else? Ah, I forget now.

I've met and waited on the following people:

Paula Abdul (1990)
Bobby Unser Jr. (1991)
Todd Rundgren (1990)
All the members of Red Hot Chili peps (1990)
James Spader (1990-91) Hung out back of the restaurant - smoked & talked a few times - *he gets high* & his wife is a total hippie - really nice guy.
Rob Lowe
Alan Thicke

And a lot of script writers.

There are more, but Im at work now and can't remember all of them.

I guess I am just anti........anti the burger flipper teachers, who will always be flipping the burgers, yes, even here they do the same thing, sure, they want to be respected, but inside they are still flipping the same old burgers, maybe it is in the meta physical realm, some are single, some have married, but forever they will be burger flippers, some teachers are truly cool here, Cool but most are.............."would you like fries with that" Wink

Oh thank you, Mercury, for helping us to differentiate between the cool and the uncool. Rolling Eyes Are we still in grade school? I've been thinking lately how so much of that "is it cool?" kind of thing continues into adulthood and how heavily influenced we are as children in schools where the only thing to do or to be is cool or not cool. It's like we're programmed forever.

That said, I love burgers. Maybe I'm a burger teacher?! I tried working at McDonald's during the summer of my freshman year in college, but I got fired after a week. No joke. Working at McDonald's seemed really hard to me. There were all of these rules and gadgets and ingredients stored in plastic bags. One day they asked me to load the ice cream cone dispenser. Who knew that it would be spring loaded? Somehow I managed to get the cones in there and crush every last one of them. That was the last in a series of unfortunate accidents, which prompted them to request my resignation. "Um, pollyplummer, we'd like to give you the opportunity to leave. I think we're doing okay here as we are..." So yeah, I think that flipping burgers is pretty difficult, not that I'm defending burger workers, but I will proudly stand up and say that I'm a CheeseBurger Teacher in Korea. I'm the biggest poser that korean public high school has ever known! Not only that but I write my own curriculum, and let's just say that we watch Friends more often than any real, professional teacher would permit. Wink The fact is that many of us were chosen because we are native speakers and because they liked our photo. I'm homesick. I miss bathtubs. Crying or Very sad Go ahead and stamp me with the burger stamp.

Looking at how much of a hifalutin front that he tries to put up in front of anonymous masses on the internet, I'd say that he's hit rock bottom in the feelings of inadequacy dept. Otherwise, he wouldn't be repeatedly launching into lumped generalizations of strangers to make him feel better about himself.

FWIW, I like whenever an OP like him comes along and openly reveals his wounds to others, so I can read them when having a bad day and take some comfort that things could always be worse. Smile
