Love has come to the god of thieves! Yes, is she Korean..............could have been, but I have chosen a Japanese teacher, yes, someone who can stimulate the mind as well as the senses. I think there is a correlation between posts here and lonliness! Sure, correlation is not causation, but being in love has made me forget about this board, and focus on the springs of life.
A new power has come to me being with a Japanese woman. In restaurants I used to get the "special" treatment, sure, most of us get it, extra side dishes, the low bow, the smiles, BUT.............when I am with her, it has tripled, yes, there is something about an American man, and a Japanese women, in Korea, that demands the utmost attention from the locals! The guys who would usually balk at a man who 'is with OUR woman' can no longer say anything. We went to a restaurant today, as she spoke Japanese on the phone, the other customers watched, in AWE, no joke, and smiles, yes, I know there is alot of anti this, anti that, but the people were mesmerized by her, clothes, mannerisms, and they offered only respect in exchange. Usually when I went to dine with a local woman, the night would be a throw of the dice, who knows what would happen, some drunk old man could have easily yelled in her face, the angry students who are jealous could have used their eyes to show their disapporval, bovinisms, but no, respect, R-E-S-P-E-C-T. And with it freeeeeeeeeeedom.
When I went out with a local, yes, I was walking on egg shells. I could never express my true mind. Even the smallest negative reference to ANYTHING would cause an emotional outburst, and so I had to be careful. But , the sky is blue again, freedom has come into my life, I can speak, yes, speak, and she has an M.A and so conversation flows like the hippocrene fountain!
Will it last? Who knows, but it has opened my eyes. It has given me the greatest power known to man, choice, yes, life is choice. Now.........a bunch of hogwan teachers, married to Korean women, will probably be feeling pretty offensive right now, they will say "go to Japan if you hate korea!" But, I will reply, .................it is a BLAST! Being in Korea with a Japanese girl is something that words cannot explain! Something that makes the days full of honey and rainbows. Something that has created a new well inside of me, a well full of life, that reaches up into the blue skies, and drops back down in the gentle dew inside the garden of my soul. Stay tuned.........................love is wonderful! |

Nice!
Do you mind if I take her out for a test drive this weekend? |

Well, I don't really know you but I'm happy for you. I have images of the two of you just running through the rain like in some cheesy love montage but from some hip movie. |

I don't know why but I remembered this thread all of the sudden. I was just curious, is Mercury still in love? |

Judging by the number of recent posts I would suggest not.
Or at least the "shiny newness" of love has worn off. |

Mercury, it doesn't seem as though you've much forgotten about this board, as your posts still appear daily (unless I've been hallucinating).
By the end of your OP post I was out of breath, and remembered your past references to beat writing. |

Still! Actually just got back from seeing her, have you ever had the Japanese national anthem sung in your ear? I have never been so fascinated in my life, from lessons in Japanese poetry, stories of her experiences here (example.........she said that whenever somebody rude pushes her, she uses "Samarai" language in her head, I asked her what "Samarai" language was and she gave me some examples!) I have been learning Japanese, and have found something that really excites me in life. She is a great cook, and her beautiful eyes and wonderful smile make me SO excited! Koreans can tell she is from Japan, they stare at her when she walks down the street! I think the thing that is so exciting is the conversations we have, She went to school and has an M.A in Japanese Literature, we can talk and talk and talk about so many topics, with Korean girls I could never really have these kinds of conversations. And with Korean girls I was on an emotional rollercoaster ride, never knowing what was going to happen, somedays were great, somedays were so crazy, one girl was calling me non stop, another would show up at my apartment at all hours of the day, another was stalking me, another would acuse me of looking at another girl and explode with anger, no peace.........but now I am in a gentle valley, I guess I can understand how Hawthorne felt with Sophie! |

And it doesn't even sound like the shiny newness has worn off
I'm not sure why this makes me happy, but it does for some odd reason. |
