|
|
Hi guys,
My little laptop is capable of churning out a decent amount of sound when it wants too, but for many things with volume at full it is really quiet.
E.g episodes 1 & 2 of lost are nice and loud, episode 3 is virtually impossible to hear.... any ideas on how i can increase the volume?

This could be a codec problem but, if you really want to boost the sound, in general, buy a usb soundblaster for your laptop. You can set this up externally and run a sound system from it. A soiund blaster is essentially an amplifier for your computer and will run you in the range of 120,000 won to 250,000 won, depending on what options you are looking for. The good thing about soundblasters is that you can connect any number of speakers up to them, from 2-7. However, this also comes in as an extra cost since you have to buy your soundblaster and speakers seperately. The price of everything together is very dependant upon the sum quality of the parts. |

You can also use winamp, which as the name implies has a software amp. You can really boost up the sound that way. |

Well, first you have to download and install it from www.winamp.com
Then you can either drag and drop your files into it, or set your preferences to always play those files through winamp. |

I don't think winamp will play a DVD. Although there is probably plug in some where. But winamp will play most video formats save for Mac formats and Real Media. You might need to install codecs too. Out of the box it might not have the latest codecs. Best thing to do is download the klite codec pack:
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm
But as Derrek says above, open video files like you open any file with any application in any Windows program you've ever used. File / Open or drag 'n' drop. |
