Got back a couple of months ago from Korea. Spent 2 years there in total and also had a year in Oz before. A small break in England though in the middle. It's kind of hard getting stuff organised again. Living with the folks, trying to get a job and more long term career sorted etc etc.

Guess I just wanted to ask how it was for everyone, how long it took you to get organised what it was like etc. Guess Im just looking for a bit of empathy from those in similar situation or who have done the same thing.

Feels like a new era starting out in England again. I know it's the right thing for me but is so hard to keep a positive attitude sometimes.

I went back twice.

Once New York City. Found a place to live in a kind of ghetto section (Washington Heights) and a shitty almost secretarial-like job. Took me six months though.. and I was living in a much better area of Manhattan and got my computer skills upgraded to get a real job (Presentations Specialist for an Investment Banker). So in short, six months total.

Another time I went back and I lived in San Francisco. Lived at a friend's place for a few months trying to get a decent job. Eventually found an apartment and ended up working at the Elections Department in City Hall as a somewhat regular (although somewhat seasonal job). It took a good 3-4 months to get that going.

I'll go back again.. maybe a year and a half from now. Debating about which city though.. but whatever you do or wherever you go.. things have a way of working themselves out.
