I received this e-mail paypal spoof, and reported it to paypal. It takes you to an authentic-looking login screen, which is totally fake, and not actually the link presented (it goes to www.pcnawa.com/essem/main.htm :
Dear [email protected],
We recently noticed one or more attempts to log in to your PayPal account
from a different IP address.
If you recently accessed your account while traveling, the unusual log in
attempts may have been initiated by you. However, if you did not initiate
the log ins, please visit PayPal as soon as possible to check-up your
account information:

Thanks for your patience.
Sincerely,
PayPal

Well, you can log into www.paypal.com and report it. I did, and they wrote back that it was indeed a spoof.
Maybe they keep track of how many people complain about it or something. |

I hate paypal. I tried to sign up three times with a legitimate credit card. Had problems everytime and lost the "sign up" fee.
www.paypalsucks.com
They lost a mutli-million dollar class action alwsuit. Some people have lost THOUSANDS of dollars from paypal. If ever there is the slightest chance that someone may be using your account fraudulently, they "freeze" you account, with all the money that is in it. You can't get your money back until they unfreeze it and they are horrible communicators. It is almost impossible to contace them by regular telephone.
www.bidpay.com is much better for Ebay, etc. |
