Did anyone bring their ice skates or roller blades with them to Korea? Are they useful? Is there any skating to be had there in winter? any roller bladers around? I know that it would depend on what city you are in, but how are the roads and the traffic for blading? |

seoul has bike paths that you can rollerblade on, but i wouldn't rollerblade as a form of trasportation here. the road are in terrible shape and the drivers don't give you any space do things like honk their horn twenty times behind you before driving off. also, the sidewalks are mainly inter-locking brick covered in sand (imagine your bearings after one or two skates). in montreal, i was a total street skater, i loved it, but not here.
i did bring my skates with me, but i've been having a hell of a time getting a new axl for them (long story). no one seems to carry salomon skate parts. if you want to skate for fun, there are paths by the river which are nice after dark. |
