I bought a PCMCIA ethernet card about 3 years ago for a laptop I had then, and I'm using it now because the ethernet jack on mine is on the fritz...

Would there be any difference in performance between that one because it's so old (it's a Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI FAST Ethernet NIC) and a newer one that has come out recently?

thanks

This will depend on your max ISP, LAN cord, and pcmcia card speed ratings.

What is the speed that your connection is capable of doing?
What is the speed rating of your LAN cable?
What is the speed rating of your pcmcia ethernet card?

Your performance will only be as good as your slowest component of the three mentionned above.

For example, if your ethernet card is 56kps, your LAN cable is 1/100 mps, and your connection is 10/100 mps, you will be able to move only at the speed of your ethernet card (56kps). I think you will find your 4 year old ethernet card to be somewhat insufficient, especially given that almost all Korean ISP's are running at TRUE high-speed.
