Two questions (unrelated):
I just signed up for a bank account with Chohung Bank. I have the ATM card and bank book, but no money in the account. I have all my money in my US checking account, Washington Mutual. Even though I will only be in Korea three months, I decided I need to get my money into an account here, as I just got two $9 fees slapped on my account for making ATM withdrawals abroad. The lady in the bank told me to go to the ATM to transfer my money, but there was no transfer option- just withdrawal.
Do I need to withdraw several thousand dollars from the machine, and then walk inside the Korean bank to deposit it in my Korean account? Seems a little silly. Or is it better to get my U.S. bank to wire it (and won't this be more expensive)?
2) Is there a good mokyoktang (public bath) or jimjilbang in the Shinchon area? I have seen the mokyoktang pictures, but they are always for yokwons. I have a big knot in my back and the shower in my cramped goshiwon bathroom is not doing it for me. I would like to find a nice bath/jimjilbang I can go to once a week or more!
Thanks! |

wiring vs ATM will probably even out on fees, wiring might actually be cheaper, given the low withdrawal limits on Korean ATMS ( around 500,000W) |

there's a sauna place on the opposite side of the main road outside the Hyundai department store I think. It's close to the import market, in the direction you'd walk if you were going to Hongdae.
Never been there myself |
