|
|
I am writing an essay...and I need some assistance.
I must reference in APA style, I know the basics about that...BUT....
In a paragraph, I am paraphrasing another author(same guy over and over), and adding my own thoughts and opinions in there as well.
Do I reference at the end of each paragraph, or after each paraphrased sentence?
I just don't think I should be putting (Brown, 2004) all over the place. I thought it best to put it once at the end of the paragraph....
HELP!! |

It's usually your discretion. Depends if your audience, i.e. your professor, is a stickler for impeccable referencing. Personally, what I would do (and have done writing enlglish papers), is but a reference after each quote. The fact that you have to put in the author's name so often could be an indication that you're quoting him too much. Maybe focus more on your own reactions/opinions. Alternatively, you could put numbers after each quote, then enter the references either at the bottom of the page or at the end of the essay. That would make your essay look less cluttered, but I don't know if it would qualify as APA though. |

I referenced every sentence in APA style papers. It was accepted as being in APA style. Terribly tedious work. |
