Hello,

I just put together my first do-it-yourself computer over the weekend, a Shuttle sn25p. I will be carrying it on the the plane with me in a backpack when I leave for Korea next month.

I have also have extra video and sound cards and a CPU. I am debating whether or not to bring the spare parts - might be nice to have a second machine just for downloading music and TV shows. I don't do that much here, but have read download speeds are generally much faster in Korea.

Are Shuttles and other small form factor barebones computers available? How are they pricewise in Korea compared to the U.S.?

Also, will what's the best way to convince customs not to charge me a fee for bringing my computer in? My school mentioned something about declaring it "for household use" and that it would be staying with me permanently in Korea.

Thanks.

Yes, SFF computers are all the rage here, too -- for some. You can find all of what you need at Youngsan Electronics Market and at Techno-Mart, just to name 2 of the biggest places in Seoul. No problems finding whatever you want. Prices are going to be similar to a bit more expensive for the SFF Shuttles. Depends on what you are getting.

You'll probably skip building another shuttle, and go with a tall/thin design that's small and cheaper than Shuttle. Also, I'd recommend going with an inexpensive DREAM or ASROCK motherboard. I've had good luck with those (but the cheap ones aren't for overclocking, if you plan on doing that). They've got tons of those too... you'll love Youngsan.
