|
|
Currently I'm working as a GEPIK teacher. I arrived mid-semester and missed the 'training' days. In fact I've had absolutely no contact with anyone from GEPIK, after working here for 3 months. My school's vacation starts in a month and lasts for a month. In my contract I have 7 days off in summer. I'm obviously very curious about this. Any idea's????? |

Perhaps they run a summer camp? They usually go for about 3 weeks, thus giving you only a one week holiday... |

Call me crazy but you could try asking your school what your vacation time is? Surely they know best. |

my school vacation begins the 23'rd of July...I teach 4 weeks of camp and then I am done.
Your 7 days are exactly that though, so including weekends you can get up to 11 days off in a row. |

Great idea Fidel... ask the school!! I wouldn't post on here if it was as simple as that.
My school don't have a clue about the issue, and they seem unaware as to whose responsibility I am. I have no GEPIK contact details. |

At my school, the students vacation is July 16 - Aug 21. I teach a summer camp from July 18-29.
For vacation I get slightly over 2 weeks, July 31 - Aug 15. That still leaves me a week to sit in the office and do nothing before the students come back
It was a struggle to get that second week though. |

My school took forever to give us information on vacations this year. They view witholding knowledge as some form of power trip.
Well... guess what? I hear they are planning to have us attend some teachers mountain-climbing trip on our first day of vacation, but are planning to tell the foreign teachers the day before.
Too bad... we've all got plans, as we weren't notified. Fire us. |

Well then, perhaps you are fortunate. If I were you I would keep my mouth shut. At the start of the school vacation and nothing further is said, book a ticket and get the hell out of dodge for 4 weeks. WHen you return and give you grief, state that in the absence of any directions and guidance you assumed that you had the whole vacation off. |

No joke, don't ask the school anything. That's the worst thing you could do. |

Don't any of you see that the path to better relations and mutual respect is through close and constant communication!? A determined effort by both sides to share views and exchange opinions will help us all overcome the barriers of language and culture, and make Planet Earth a more peaceful and harmonious place for us all to live. Communication -- it's a beautiful thing! [/sarcasm]
